When I am in distress, I call to you, because you answer me.
I cry aloud to the Lord; I lift up my voice to the Lord for mercy.
When my spirit grows faint within me, it is you who watch over my way. In the path where I walk people have hidden a snare for me.
I call on you, my God, for you will answer me; turn your ear to me and hear my prayer.

He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.

During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission.
