that the wicked are spared from the day of calamity, that they are delivered from the day of wrath?

When I think about this, I am terrified; trembling seizes my body.

Their homes are safe and free from fear; the rod of God is not on them.

This is what the wicked are like— always free of care, they go on amassing wealth.

Nevertheless, when we are judged in this way by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be finally condemned with the world.

If you are not disciplined—and everyone undergoes discipline—then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all.

Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent.
