May my accusers perish in shame; may those who want to harm me be covered with scorn and disgrace.

The Jews assembled in their cities in all the provinces of King Xerxes to attack those determined to destroy them. No one could stand against them, because the people of all the other nationalities were afraid of them.

May my accusers be clothed with disgrace and wrapped in shame as in a cloak.

I will clothe his enemies with shame, but his head will be adorned with a radiant crown.”

May all who gloat over my distress be put to shame and confusion; may all who exalt themselves over me be clothed with shame and disgrace.

May those who seek my life be disgraced and put to shame; may those who plot my ruin be turned back in dismay.

All my enemies will be overwhelmed with shame and anguish; they will turn back and suddenly be put to shame.

May those who say to me, “Aha! Aha!” turn back because of their shame.

My tongue will tell of your righteous acts all day long, for those who wanted to harm me have been put to shame and confusion.

“All who rage against you will surely be ashamed and disgraced; those who oppose you will be as nothing and perish.

But the Lord is with me like a mighty warrior; so my persecutors will stumble and not prevail. They will fail and be thoroughly disgraced; their dishonor will never be forgotten.

In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”
