Rescue me from the mire, do not let me sink; deliver me from those who hate me, from the deep waters.
But you, Sovereign Lord, help me for your name’s sake; out of the goodness of your love, deliver me.
With words of hatred they surround me; they attack me without cause.
Reach down your hand from on high; deliver me and rescue me from the mighty waters, from the hands of foreigners
Do not let those gloat over me who are my enemies without cause; do not let those who hate me without reason maliciously wink the eye.
My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?
Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me.
Do not let the floodwaters engulf me or the depths swallow me up or the pit close its mouth over me.
You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you.
I called on your name, Lord, from the depths of the pit.
“Those who cling to worthless idols turn away from God’s love for them.

But those enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them—bring them here and kill them in front of me.’ ”
