But there they are, overwhelmed with dread, where there was nothing to dread. God scattered the bones of those who attacked you; you put them to shame, for God despised them.

But there they are, overwhelmed with dread, for God is present in the company of the righteous.

They will say, “As one plows and breaks up the earth, so our bones have been scattered at the mouth of the grave.”

The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them.

May all who gloat over my distress be put to shame and confusion; may all who exalt themselves over me be clothed with shame and disgrace.

May those who seek my life be disgraced and put to shame; may those who plot my ruin be turned back in dismay.

They are like a dream when one awakes; when you arise, Lord, you will despise them as fantasies.

The wicked flee though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.

He has laid waste his dwelling like a garden; he has destroyed his place of meeting. The Lord has made Zion forget her appointed festivals and her Sabbaths; in his fierce anger he has spurned both king and priest.

I will lay the dead bodies of the Israelites in front of their idols, and I will scatter your bones around your altars.

I will set my face against you so that you will be defeated by your enemies; those who hate you will rule over you, and you will flee even when no one is pursuing you.

“ ‘As for those of you who are left, I will make their hearts so fearful in the lands of their enemies that the sound of a windblown leaf will put them to flight. They will run as though fleeing from the sword, and they will fall, even though no one is pursuing them.

Then panic struck the whole army—those in the camp and field, and those in the outposts and raiding parties—and the ground shook. It was a panic sent by God.
