The arrows of the Almighty are in me, my spirit drinks in their poison; God’s terrors are marshaled against me.

You will make them turn their backs when you aim at them with drawn bow.

For day and night your hand was heavy on me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer.

Have mercy on me, Lord, for I am faint; heal me, Lord, for my bones are in agony.

But God will shoot them with his arrows; they will suddenly be struck down.

He drew his bow and made me the target for his arrows.

but keep watching it. If it goes up to its own territory, toward Beth Shemesh, then the Lord has brought this great disaster on us. But if it does not, then we will know that it was not his hand that struck us but that it happened to us by chance.”
