Those who want to kill me set their traps, those who would harm me talk of my ruin; all day long they scheme and lie.

The arrogant have hidden a snare for me; they have spread out the cords of their net and have set traps for me along my path.

Keep me safe from the traps set by evildoers, from the snares they have laid for me.

May those who seek my life be disgraced and put to shame; may those who plot my ruin be turned back in dismay.

The wicked have set a snare for me, but I have not strayed from your precepts.

The poor are shunned by all their relatives— how much more do their friends avoid them! Though the poor pursue them with pleading, they are nowhere to be found.
