Your righteousness is like the highest mountains, your justice like the great deep. You, Lord, preserve both people and animals.

Far be it from you to do such a thing—to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. Far be it from you! Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?”

You alone are the Lord. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you.

The Almighty is beyond our reach and exalted in power; in his justice and great righteousness, he does not oppress.

If I have sinned, what have I done to you, you who see everything we do? Why have you made me your target? Have I become a burden to you?

The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made.

He provides food for the cattle and for the young ravens when they call.

In the shelter of your presence you hide them from all human intrigues; you keep them safe in your dwelling from accusing tongues.

Your righteousness, God, reaches to the heavens, you who have done great things. Who is like you, God?

Your path led through the sea, your way through the mighty waters, though your footprints were not seen.

How great are your works, Lord, how profound your thoughts!

Clouds and thick darkness surround him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.

Pray to the Lord, for we have had enough thunder and hail. I will let you go; you don’t have to stay any longer.”

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.

I have not spoken in secret, from somewhere in a land of darkness; I have not said to Jacob’s descendants, ‘Seek me in vain.’ I, the Lord, speak the truth; I declare what is right.

You are always righteous, Lord, when I bring a case before you. Yet I would speak with you about your justice: Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why do all the faithless live at ease?

They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

And should I not have concern for the great city of Nineveh, in which there are more than a hundred and twenty thousand people who cannot tell their right hand from their left—and also many animals?”

Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out!

God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished—

He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.

Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.

That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, and especially of those who believe.

Then panic struck the whole army—those in the camp and field, and those in the outposts and raiding parties—and the ground shook. It was a panic sent by God.
