Hear my cry for mercy as I call to you for help, as I lift up my hands toward your Most Holy Place.

He prepared the inner sanctuary within the temple to set the ark of the covenant of the Lord there.

Against the walls of the main hall and inner sanctuary he built a structure around the building, in which there were side rooms.

and when a prayer or plea is made by anyone among your people Israel—being aware of the afflictions of their own hearts, and spreading out their hands toward this temple—

Now he had made a bronze platform, five cubits long, five cubits wide and three cubits high, and had placed it in the center of the outer court. He stood on the platform and then knelt down before the whole assembly of Israel and spread out his hands toward heaven.

But those who turn to crooked ways the Lord will banish with the evildoers. Peace be on Israel.

Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy.

I will bow down toward your holy temple and will praise your name for your unfailing love and your faithfulness, for you have so exalted your solemn decree that it surpasses your fame.

I say to the Lord, “You are my God.” Hear, Lord, my cry for mercy.

I call to you, Lord, come quickly to me; hear me when I call to you.

May my prayer be set before you like incense; may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice.

I spread out my hands to you; I thirst for you like a parched land.

But I, by your great love, can come into your house; in reverence I bow down toward your holy temple.

I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands.

Arise, cry out in the night, as the watches of the night begin; pour out your heart like water in the presence of the Lord. Lift up your hands to him for the lives of your children, who faint from hunger at every street corner.

Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before.

Then these men went as a group and found Daniel praying and asking God for help.

Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing.
