Those who had arrested Jesus took him to Caiaphas the high priest, where the teachers of the law and the elders had assembled.

When they had crucified him, they divided up his clothes by casting lots.

“Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.

When the soldiers crucified Jesus, they took his clothes, dividing them into four shares, one for each of them, with the undergarment remaining. This garment was seamless, woven in one piece from top to bottom.

Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus’ side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water.

and, as another scripture says, “They will look on the one they have pierced.”

So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”

Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”

Watch out for those dogs, those evildoers, those mutilators of the flesh.

Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.
