you have been trapped by what you said, ensnared by the words of your mouth.
Evildoers are trapped by their sinful talk, and so the innocent escape trouble.
The mouths of fools are their undoing, and their lips are a snare to their very lives.
My son, if you have put up security for your neighbor, if you have shaken hands in pledge for a stranger,
So do this, my son, to free yourself, since you have fallen into your neighbor’s hands: Go—to the point of exhaustion— and give your neighbor no rest!
The images of their gods you are to burn in the fire. Do not covet the silver and gold on them, and do not take it for yourselves, or you will be ensnared by it, for it is detestable to the Lord your God.
