What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?

Better a little with righteousness than much gain with injustice.

What a person desires is unfailing love; better to be poor than a liar.

The righteous lead blameless lives; blessed are their children after them.

Better a little with the fear of the Lord than great wealth with turmoil.

Whoever fears the Lord walks uprightly, but those who despise him are devious in their ways.

For your hands are stained with blood, your fingers with guilt. Your lips have spoken falsely, and your tongue mutters wicked things.

They are always generous and lend freely; their children will be a blessing.

The righteous choose their friends carefully, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.

I lead a blameless life; deliver me and be merciful to me.

Please pay no attention, my lord, to that wicked man Nabal. He is just like his name—his name means Fool, and folly goes with him. And as for me, your servant, I did not see the men my lord sent.

Now think it over and see what you can do, because disaster is hanging over our master and his whole household. He is such a wicked man that no one can talk to him.”

Keep your mouth free of perversity; keep corrupt talk far from your lips.
