A fool’s mouth lashes out with pride, but the lips of the wise protect them.

You will be protected from the lash of the tongue, and need not fear when destruction comes.

May the Lord silence all flattering lips and every boastful tongue—

Let their lying lips be silenced, for with pride and contempt they speak arrogantly against the righteous.

I am in the midst of lions; I am forced to dwell among ravenous beasts— men whose teeth are spears and arrows, whose tongues are sharp swords.

The words of the wicked lie in wait for blood, but the speech of the upright rescues them.

Those who guard their lips preserve their lives, but those who speak rashly will come to ruin.

Whoever sows injustice reaps calamity, and the rod they wield in fury will be broken.

The greedy stir up conflict, but those who trust in the Lord will prosper.

I also wanted to know about the ten horns on its head and about the other horn that came up, before which three of them fell—the horn that looked more imposing than the others and that had eyes and a mouth that spoke boastfully.

For they mouth empty, boastful words and, by appealing to the lustful desires of the flesh, they entice people who are just escaping from those who live in error.

They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.

Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth.

“Do not keep talking so proudly or let your mouth speak such arrogance, for the Lord is a God who knows, and by him deeds are weighed.
