Now these things occurred as examples to keep us from setting our hearts on evil things as they did.

Many other people went up with them, and also large droves of livestock, both flocks and herds.

In the desert they gave in to their craving; in the wilderness they put God to the test.

Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”

When the people heard this law, they excluded from Israel all who were of foreign descent.

Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.

The Israelites said to them, “If only we had died by the Lord’s hand in Egypt! There we sat around pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted, but you have brought us out into this desert to starve this entire assembly to death.”

not one of those who saw my glory and the signs I performed in Egypt and in the wilderness but who disobeyed me and tested me ten times—

Isn’t it enough that you have brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey to kill us in the wilderness? And now you also want to lord it over us!

and if you say, ‘No, we will go and live in Egypt, where we will not see war or hear the trumpet or be hungry for bread,’

“I have heard the grumbling of the Israelites. Tell them, ‘At twilight you will eat meat, and in the morning you will be filled with bread. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God.’ ”

“Tell the people: ‘Consecrate yourselves in preparation for tomorrow, when you will eat meat. The Lord heard you when you wailed, “If only we had meat to eat! We were better off in Egypt!” Now the Lord will give you meat, and you will eat it.

That night all the members of the community raised their voices and wept aloud.

You also made the Lord angry at Taberah, at Massah and at Kibroth Hattaavah.
