Then the whole town went out to meet Jesus. And when they saw him, they pleaded with him to leave their region.
She said to Elijah, “What do you have against me, man of God? Did you come to remind me of my sin and kill my son?”
When he saw Elijah, he said to him, “Is that you, you troubler of Israel?”
Yet they say to God, ‘Leave us alone! We have no desire to know your ways.
They said to God, ‘Leave us alone! What can the Almighty do to us?’
Then Amaziah said to Amos, “Get out, you seer! Go back to the land of Judah. Earn your bread there and do your prophesying there.
“What do you want with us, Son of God?” they shouted. “Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?”
When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!”
When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell at his feet, shouting at the top of his voice, “What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg you, don’t torture me!”
They came to appease them and escorted them from the prison, requesting them to leave the city.
But now, why should we die? This great fire will consume us, and we will die if we hear the voice of the Lord our God any longer.
Samuel did what the Lord said. When he arrived at Bethlehem, the elders of the town trembled when they met him. They asked, “Do you come in peace?”
