Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them,
James son of Zebedee and his brother John (to them he gave the name Boanerges, which means “sons of thunder”),
These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon (who is called Peter) and his brother Andrew; James son of Zebedee, and his brother John;
He had James, the brother of John, put to death with the sword.
Simon Peter, Thomas (also known as Didymus), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples were together.
He did not let anyone follow him except Peter, James and John the brother of James.
He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled.
After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James and John the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves.
At once they left their nets and followed him.
and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.
