and he went and lived in a town called Nazareth. So was fulfilled what was said through the prophets, that he would be called a Nazarene.

When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, “Who is this?”

But if we say, ‘Of human origin’—we are afraid of the people, for they all hold that John was a prophet.”

They looked for a way to arrest him, but they were afraid of the crowd because the people held that he was a prophet.

Others said, “He is Elijah.” And still others claimed, “He is a prophet, like one of the prophets of long ago.”

In any case, I must press on today and tomorrow and the next day—for surely no prophet can die outside Jerusalem!

“What things?” he asked. “About Jesus of Nazareth,” they replied. “He was a prophet, powerful in word and deed before God and all the people.

They were all filled with awe and praised God. “A great prophet has appeared among us,” they said. “God has come to help his people.”

When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is—that she is a sinner.”

They asked him, “Then who are you? Are you Elijah?” He said, “I am not.” “Are you the Prophet?” He answered, “No.”

questioned him, “Why then do you baptize if you are not the Messiah, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?”

“Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet.

After the people saw the sign Jesus performed, they began to say, “Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world.”

On hearing his words, some of the people said, “Surely this man is the Prophet.”

Then they turned again to the blind man, “What have you to say about him? It was your eyes he opened.” The man replied, “He is a prophet.”

“This is the Moses who told the Israelites, ‘God will raise up for you a prophet like me from your own people.’
