Then the Lord sent a great wind on the sea, and such a violent storm arose that the ship threatened to break up.

Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him.

Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”

But the ship struck a sandbar and ran aground. The bow stuck fast and would not move, and the stern was broken to pieces by the pounding of the surf.

Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was pelted with stones, three times I was shipwrecked, I spent a night and a day in the open sea,
