“Isn’t this the carpenter’s son? Isn’t his mother’s name Mary, and aren’t his brothers James, Joseph, Simon and Judas?

As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,” he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him.

As he walked along, he saw Levi son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,” Jesus told him, and Levi got up and followed him.

James son of Zebedee and his brother John (to them he gave the name Boanerges, which means “sons of thunder”),

and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.

Isn’t this the carpenter? Isn’t this Mary’s son and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas and Simon? Aren’t his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him.

Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of the two who heard what John had said and who had followed Jesus.

Simon Peter, Thomas (also known as Didymus), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples were together.

When they arrived, they went upstairs to the room where they were staying. Those present were Peter, John, James and Andrew; Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew; James son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James.

When they finished, James spoke up. “Brothers,” he said, “listen to me.

The next day Paul and the rest of us went to see James, and all the elders were present.

Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles,

Don’t we have the right to take a believing wife along with us, as do the other apostles and the Lord’s brothers and Cephas?

I saw none of the other apostles—only James, the Lord’s brother.

James, Cephas and John, those esteemed as pillars, gave me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship when they recognized the grace given to me. They agreed that we should go to the Gentiles, and they to the circumcised.

James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes scattered among the nations: Greetings.
