The Lord detests the thoughts of the wicked, but gracious words are pure in his sight.

I know, my God, that you test the heart and are pleased with integrity. All these things I have given willingly and with honest intent. And now I have seen with joy how willingly your people who are here have given to you.

Aware of this, Jesus withdrew from that place. A large crowd followed him, and he healed all who were ill.

They discussed this among themselves and said, “It is because we didn’t bring any bread.”

“Why does this fellow talk like that? He’s blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?”

Which is easier: to say to this paralyzed man, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up, take your mat and walk’?
