She died at Kiriath Arba (that is, Hebron) in the land of Canaan, and Abraham went to mourn for Sarah and to weep over her.

The king was shaken. He went up to the room over the gateway and wept. As he went, he said: “O my son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom! If only I had died instead of you—O Absalom, my son, my son!”

To the Israelites the glory of the Lord looked like a consuming fire on top of the mountain.

A large number of people followed him, including women who mourned and wailed for him.

When all the people who had gathered to witness this sight saw what took place, they beat their breasts and went away.

When he arrived at the house of Jairus, he did not let anyone go in with him except Peter, John and James, and the child’s father and mother.

They laughed at him, knowing that she was dead.

When he heard this, Jesus said, “This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.”
