I tell you, use worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings.

Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

Therefore, Your Majesty, be pleased to accept my advice: Renounce your sins by doing what is right, and your wickedness by being kind to the oppressed. It may be that then your prosperity will continue.”

So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches?

Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done.

and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”

Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.

But now as for what is inside you—be generous to the poor, and everything will be clean for you.

For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.

keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.

Cornelius stared at him in fear. “What is it, Lord?” he asked. The angel answered, “Your prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as a memorial offering before God.

Ship your grain across the sea; after many days you may receive a return.

Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle.

I will not accuse them forever, nor will I always be angry, for then they would faint away because of me— the very people I have created.

My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

I know what I’ll do so that, when I lose my job here, people will welcome me into their houses.’

The wealth of the wise is their crown, but the folly of fools yields folly.
