And now you will be silent and not able to speak until the day this happens, because you did not believe my words, which will come true at their appointed time.”

Then the Lord reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, “I have put my words in your mouth.

Now the evening before the man arrived, the hand of the Lord was on me, and he opened my mouth before the man came to me in the morning. So my mouth was opened and I was no longer silent.

Open my lips, Lord, and my mouth will declare your praise.

And when the demon was driven out, the man who had been mute spoke. The crowd was amazed and said, “Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel.”

But when I speak to you, I will open your mouth and you shall say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says.’ Whoever will listen let them listen, and whoever will refuse let them refuse; for they are a rebellious people.

In that day you will say: “I will praise you, Lord. Although you were angry with me, your anger has turned away and you have comforted me.

“On that day I will make a horn grow for the Israelites, and I will open your mouth among them. Then they will know that I am the Lord.”

The Lord said to him, “Who gave human beings their mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? Is it not I, the Lord?
