if they give back what they took in pledge for a loan, return what they have stolen, follow the decrees that give life, and do no evil—that person will surely live; they will not die.

When they go out into the outer court where the people are, they are to take off the clothes they have been ministering in and are to leave them in the sacred rooms, and put on other clothes, so that the people are not consecrated through contact with their garments.

Anyone who takes the life of someone’s animal must make restitution—life for life.

Whoever kills an animal must make restitution, but whoever kills a human being is to be put to death.

that is, all the rest of the bull—he must take outside the camp to a place ceremonially clean, where the ashes are thrown, and burn it there in a wood fire on the ash heap.

“They do not know how to do right,” declares the Lord, “who store up in their fortresses what they have plundered and looted.”

They covet fields and seize them, and houses, and take them. They defraud people of their homes, they rob them of their inheritance.

On that day I will punish all who avoid stepping on the threshold, who fill the temple of their gods with violence and deceit.

and must confess the sin they have committed. They must make full restitution for the wrong they have done, add a fifth of the value to it and give it all to the person they have wronged.
