You must not eat their meat or touch their carcasses; they are unclean for you.

They are only a matter of food and drink and various ceremonial washings—external regulations applying until the time of the new order.

Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day.

They will not remain in the Lord’s land; Ephraim will return to Egypt and eat unclean food in Assyria.

Depart, depart, go out from there! Touch no unclean thing! Come out from it and be pure, you who carry the articles of the Lord’s house.

“ ‘If anyone becomes aware that they are guilty—if they unwittingly touch anything ceremonially unclean (whether the carcass of an unclean animal, wild or domestic, or of any unclean creature that moves along the ground) and they are unaware that they have become unclean, but then they come to realize their guilt;

Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.

Therefore do not be partners with them.

Therefore, “Come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.”

But food does not bring us near to God; we are no worse if we do not eat, and no better if we do.

It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother or sister to fall.

You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things. Farewell.

He said to them: “You are well aware that it is against our law for a Jew to associate with or visit a Gentile. But God has shown me that I should not call anyone impure or unclean.

“Are you so dull?” he asked. “Don’t you see that nothing that enters a person from the outside can defile them?

Nothing outside a person can defile them by going into them. Rather, it is what comes out of a person that defiles them.”

and saw some of his disciples eating food with hands that were defiled, that is, unwashed.

These are what defile a person; but eating with unwashed hands does not defile them.”

What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them.”

And the pig, though it has a divided hoof, does not chew the cud; it is unclean for you.

“ ‘Of all the creatures living in the water of the seas and the streams you may eat any that have fins and scales.
