Jesus, knowing all that was going to happen to him, went out and asked them, “Who is it you want?”

It was just before the Passover Festival. Jesus knew that the hour had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.

Again he asked them, “Who is it you want?” “Jesus of Nazareth,” they said.

You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.’

Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident.

Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I am thirsty.”

For he knew who was going to betray him, and that was why he said not every one was clean.

Yet there are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray him.

He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.”

Then Jesus told them, “This very night you will all fall away on account of me, for it is written: “ ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’

And while they were eating, he said, “Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me.”

“As you know, the Passover is two days away—and the Son of Man will be handed over to be crucified.”

From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.

The wicked flee though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.

I will not fear though tens of thousands assail me on every side.

But I said, “Should a man like me run away? Or should someone like me go into the temple to save his life? I will not go!”

As surely as the Lord your God lives, there is not a nation or kingdom where my master has not sent someone to look for you. And whenever a nation or kingdom claimed you were not there, he made them swear they could not find you.

Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because whoever suffers in the body is done with sin.

“Jesus of Nazareth,” they replied. “I am he,” Jesus said. (And Judas the traitor was standing there with them.)
