He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.
“But his subjects hated him and sent a delegation after him to say, ‘We don’t want this man to be our king.’
He testifies to what he has seen and heard, but no one accepts his testimony.
He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.”
For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the Jews on behalf of God’s truth, so that the promises made to the patriarchs might be confirmed
Then Paul and Barnabas answered them boldly: “We had to speak the word of God to you first. Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles.
Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry of the Messiah, who is God over all, forever praised! Amen.
But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law,
“Fellow children of Abraham and you God-fearing Gentiles, it is to us that this message of salvation has been sent.
I speak the truth in Christ—I am not lying, my conscience confirms it through the Holy Spirit—
He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.
Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—
and to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.
After saying goodbye to each other, we went aboard the ship, and they returned home.
