If I am guilty—woe to me! Even if I am innocent, I cannot lift my head, for I am full of shame and drowned in my affliction.

You say to God, ‘My beliefs are flawless and I am pure in your sight.’

If he snatches away, who can stop him? Who can say to him, ‘What are you doing?’

“Although I am blameless, I have no concern for myself; I despise my own life.

It is all the same; that is why I say, ‘He destroys both the blameless and the wicked.’

For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.

Though you probe my heart, though you examine me at night and test me, you will find that I have planned no evil; my mouth has not transgressed.

“Consider this, you who forget God, or I will tear you to pieces, with no one to rescue you:

Lord my God, if I have done this and there is guilt on my hands—

Yes, and from ancient days I am he. No one can deliver out of my hand. When I act, who can reverse it?”

Now when you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe and all kinds of music, if you are ready to fall down and worship the image I made, very good. But if you do not worship it, you will be thrown immediately into a blazing furnace. Then what god will be able to rescue you from my hand?”

So now I will expose her lewdness before the eyes of her lovers; no one will take her out of my hands.

You are witnesses, and so is God, of how holy, righteous and blameless we were among you who believed.

“The Mighty One, God, the Lord! The Mighty One, God, the Lord! He knows! And let Israel know! If this has been in rebellion or disobedience to the Lord, do not spare us this day.
