You said, ‘Woe to me! The Lord has added sorrow to my pain; I am worn out with groaning and find no rest.’

“Even today my complaint is bitter; his hand is heavy in spite of my groaning.

Woe to me that I dwell in Meshek, that I live among the tents of Kedar!

I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me.

I am worn out from my groaning. All night long I flood my bed with weeping and drench my couch with tears.

My eyes grow weak with sorrow; they fail because of all my foes.

I am worn out calling for help; my throat is parched. My eyes fail, looking for my God.

If you falter in a time of trouble, how small is your strength!

“This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says to you, Baruch:

You who are my Comforter in sorrow, my heart is faint within me.

Oh, that my head were a spring of water and my eyes a fountain of tears! I would weep day and night for the slain of my people.

“From on high he sent fire, sent it down into my bones. He spread a net for my feet and turned me back. He made me desolate, faint all the day long.

“Let all their wickedness come before you; deal with them as you have dealt with me because of all my sins. My groans are many and my heart is faint.”

Though he brings grief, he will show compassion, so great is his unfailing love.

Therefore, since through God’s mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart.

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

And as for you, brothers and sisters, never tire of doing what is good.
