So all the officials and people who entered into this covenant agreed that they would free their male and female slaves and no longer hold them in bondage. They agreed, and set them free.

Instead, you yourselves cheat and do wrong, and you do this to your brothers and sisters.

Are they Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they Abraham’s descendants? So am I.

If any of your people—Hebrew men or women—sell themselves to you and serve you six years, in the seventh year you must let them go free.
