See, the former things have taken place, and new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce them to you.”

“Tell us, you idols, what is going to happen. Tell us what the former things were, so that we may consider them and know their final outcome. Or declare to us the things to come,

Not one of all the Lord’s good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.

Declare what is to be, present it— let them take counsel together. Who foretold this long ago, who declared it from the distant past? Was it not I, the Lord? And there is no God apart from me, a righteous God and a Savior; there is none but me.

All the nations gather together and the peoples assemble. Which of their gods foretold this and proclaimed to us the former things? Let them bring in their witnesses to prove they were right, so that others may hear and say, “It is true.”

Listen! When he hears a certain report, I will make him want to return to his own country, and there I will have him cut down with the sword.’ ”

Because you rage against me and because your insolence has reached my ears, I will put my hook in your nose and my bit in your mouth, and I will make you return by the way you came.

But your many enemies will become like fine dust, the ruthless hordes like blown chaff. Suddenly, in an instant,

this sin will become for you like a high wall, cracked and bulging, that collapses suddenly, in an instant.

I was the first to tell Zion, ‘Look, here they are!’ I gave to Jerusalem a messenger of good news.
