Woe to the wicked! Disaster is upon them! They will be paid back for what their hands have done.

Far be it from you to do such a thing—to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. Far be it from you! Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?”

If I am guilty—woe to me! Even if I am innocent, I cannot lift my head, for I am full of shame and drowned in my affliction.

Repay them for their deeds and for their evil work; repay them for what their hands have done and bring back on them what they deserve.

and with you, Lord, is unfailing love”; and, “You reward everyone according to what they have done.”

they will eat the fruit of their ways and be filled with the fruit of their schemes.

If the righteous receive their due on earth, how much more the ungodly and the sinner!

From the fruit of their lips people are filled with good things, and the work of their hands brings them reward.

Whoever digs a pit will fall into it; if someone rolls a stone, it will roll back on them.

Yet because the wicked do not fear God, it will not go well with them, and their days will not lengthen like a shadow.

I will punish the world for its evil, the wicked for their sins. I will put an end to the arrogance of the haughty and will humble the pride of the ruthless.

“There is no peace,” says the Lord, “for the wicked.”

“Never again will there be in it an infant who lives but a few days, or an old man who does not live out his years; the one who dies at a hundred will be thought a mere child; the one who fails to reach a hundred will be considered accursed.

“See, it stands written before me: I will not keep silent but will pay back in full; I will pay it back into their laps—

both your sins and the sins of your ancestors,” says the Lord. “Because they burned sacrifices on the mountains and defied me on the hills, I will measure into their laps the full payment for their former deeds.”

I will punish you as your deeds deserve, declares the Lord. I will kindle a fire in your forests that will consume everything around you.’ ”

Instead, everyone will die for their own sin; whoever eats sour grapes—their own teeth will be set on edge.

“ ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will deal with you as you deserve, because you have despised my oath by breaking the covenant.

The one who sins is the one who will die. The child will not share the guilt of the parent, nor will the parent share the guilt of the child. The righteousness of the righteous will be credited to them, and the wickedness of the wicked will be charged against them.

which he unrolled before me. On both sides of it were written words of lament and mourning and woe.

“ ‘I the Lord have spoken. The time has come for me to act. I will not hold back; I will not have pity, nor will I relent. You will be judged according to your conduct and your actions, declares the Sovereign Lord.’ ”

When I say to the wicked, ‘You wicked person, you will surely die,’ and you do not speak out to dissuade them from their ways, that wicked person will die for their sin, and I will hold you accountable for their blood.

Then they will cry out to the Lord, but he will not answer them. At that time he will hide his face from them because of the evil they have done.

The earth will become desolate because of its inhabitants, as the result of their deeds.

“But if you fail to do this, you will be sinning against the Lord; and you may be sure that your sin will find you out.

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.

because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment.

God also made the people of Shechem pay for all their wickedness. The curse of Jotham son of Jerub-Baal came on them.
