You save the humble but bring low those whose eyes are haughty.

The arrogance of man will be brought low and human pride humbled; the Lord alone will be exalted in that day,

“Surely the day is coming; it will burn like a furnace. All the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble, and the day that is coming will set them on fire,” says the Lord Almighty. “Not a root or a branch will be left to them.

In that day the Lord will punish the powers in the heavens above and the kings on the earth below.

I will punish the world for its evil, the wicked for their sins. I will put an end to the arrogance of the haughty and will humble the pride of the ruthless.

In that day you will say: “Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done, and proclaim that his name is exalted.

“In that day,” declares the Lord, “I will gather the lame; I will assemble the exiles and those I have brought to grief.

In that day I will make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field, the birds in the sky and the creatures that move along the ground. Bow and sword and battle I will abolish from the land, so that all may lie down in safety.

From that day forward the people of Israel will know that I am the Lord their God.

In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”

But, “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.”

We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

“I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

The Lord their God will save his people on that day as a shepherd saves his flock. They will sparkle in his land like jewels in a crown.

On that day they will say to Jerusalem, “Do not fear, Zion; do not let your hands hang limp.

On that day you, Jerusalem, will not be put to shame for all the wrongs you have done to me, because I will remove from you your arrogant boasters. Never again will you be haughty on my holy hill.

“In that day,” declares the Lord, “I will destroy your horses from among you and demolish your chariots.

“In that day,” declares the Lord, “will I not destroy the wise men of Edom, those of understanding in the mountains of Esau?

“In that day “I will restore David’s fallen shelter— I will repair its broken walls and restore its ruins— and will rebuild it as it used to be,

“In that day the mountains will drip new wine, and the hills will flow with milk; all the ravines of Judah will run with water. A fountain will flow out of the Lord’s house and will water the valley of acacias.

“In that day I will respond,” declares the Lord— “I will respond to the skies, and they will respond to the earth;

“In that day,” declares the Lord, “you will call me ‘my husband’; you will no longer call me ‘my master.’

“ ‘On that day I will give Gog a burial place in Israel, in the valley of those who travel east of the Sea. It will block the way of travelers, because Gog and all his hordes will be buried there. So it will be called the Valley of Hamon Gog.

In my zeal and fiery wrath I declare that at that time there shall be a great earthquake in the land of Israel.

“Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say to Gog: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: In that day, when my people Israel are living in safety, will you not take notice of it?

but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the Lord.

Therefore my people will know my name; therefore in that day they will know that it is I who foretold it. Yes, it is I.”

Who is it you have ridiculed and blasphemed? Against whom have you raised your voice and lifted your eyes in pride? Against the Holy One of Israel!

He will also send you rain for the seed you sow in the ground, and the food that comes from the land will be rich and plentiful. In that day your cattle will graze in broad meadows.

In that day the deaf will hear the words of the scroll, and out of gloom and darkness the eyes of the blind will see.

In that day the Lord Almighty will be a glorious crown, a beautiful wreath for the remnant of his people.

In that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah: We have a strong city; God makes salvation its walls and ramparts.

In that day they will say, “Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the Lord, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.”

In that day you will say: “I will praise you, Lord. Although you were angry with me, your anger has turned away and you have comforted me.

In that day seven women will take hold of one man and say, “We will eat our own food and provide our own clothes; only let us be called by your name. Take away our disgrace!”

on the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people and to be marveled at among all those who have believed. This includes you, because you believed our testimony to you.

You save the humble, but your eyes are on the haughty to bring them low.

They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm.

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

The Lord Almighty planned it, to bring down her pride in all her splendor and to humble all who are renowned on the earth.

Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!

Therefore, the Lord says: “I am planning disaster against this people, from which you cannot save yourselves. You will no longer walk proudly, for it will be a time of calamity.

You, Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light.

The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Rise up, Judge of the earth; pay back to the proud what they deserve.

The Lord detests all the proud of heart. Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished.

When the Lord has finished all his work against Mount Zion and Jerusalem, he will say, “I will punish the king of Assyria for the willful pride of his heart and the haughty look in his eyes.

But you are brought down to the realm of the dead, to the depths of the pit.

He brings princes to naught and reduces the rulers of this world to nothing.

Has not my inheritance become to me like a speckled bird of prey that other birds of prey surround and attack? Go and gather all the wild beasts; bring them to devour.

At the end of that time, I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes toward heaven, and my sanity was restored. Then I praised the Most High; I honored and glorified him who lives forever. His dominion is an eternal dominion; his kingdom endures from generation to generation.
