The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done.

For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.

For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.

For if their rejection brought reconciliation to the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead?

God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?

Strength resides in its neck; dismay goes before it.

Do not be overawed when others grow rich, when the splendor of their houses increases;

Israel’s arrogance testifies against him, but despite all this he does not return to the Lord his God or search for him.
