My people are determined to turn from me. Even though they call me God Most High, I will by no means exalt them.

“But my people would not listen to me; Israel would not submit to me.

The faithless will be fully repaid for their ways, and the good rewarded for theirs.

But when grace is shown to the wicked, they do not learn righteousness; even in a land of uprightness they go on doing evil and do not regard the majesty of the Lord.

Although our sins testify against us, do something, Lord, for the sake of your name. For we have often rebelled; we have sinned against you.

Your wickedness will punish you; your backsliding will rebuke you. Consider then and realize how evil and bitter it is for you when you forsake the Lord your God and have no awe of me,” declares the Lord, the Lord Almighty.

The Lord said to me, “Faithless Israel is more righteous than unfaithful Judah.

From the time your ancestors left Egypt until now, day after day, again and again I sent you my servants the prophets.

But they did not listen to me or pay attention. They were stiff-necked and did more evil than their ancestors.’

Why then have these people turned away? Why does Jerusalem always turn away? They cling to deceit; they refuse to return.

But the more they were called, the more they went away from me. They sacrificed to the Baals and they burned incense to images.

“I will heal their waywardness and love them freely, for my anger has turned away from them.

The Israelites are stubborn, like a stubborn heifer. How then can the Lord pasture them like lambs in a meadow?

They do not turn to the Most High; they are like a faulty bow. Their leaders will fall by the sword because of their insolent words. For this they will be ridiculed in the land of Egypt.
