In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways,

“And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.

And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.

But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne.

to Abraham and his descendants forever, just as he promised our ancestors.”

For since the message spoken through angels was binding, and every violation and disobedience received its just punishment,

to show mercy to our ancestors and to remember his holy covenant,

They arranged to meet Paul on a certain day, and came in even larger numbers to the place where he was staying. He witnessed to them from morning till evening, explaining about the kingdom of God, and from the Law of Moses and from the Prophets he tried to persuade them about Jesus.

We know that God spoke to Moses, but as for this fellow, we don’t even know where he comes from.”

Yet, because Moses gave you circumcision (though actually it did not come from Moses, but from the patriarchs), you circumcise a boy on the Sabbath.

He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.”

Then the Lord said, “My Spirit will not contend with humans forever, for they are mortal; their days will be a hundred and twenty years.”

But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.

Heaven must receive him until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promised long ago through his holy prophets.

how shall we escape if we ignore so great a salvation? This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard him.

“Moses was faithful as a servant in all God’s house,” bearing witness to what would be spoken by God in the future.

For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day.

In the same way, Christ did not take on himself the glory of becoming a high priest. But God said to him, “You are my Son; today I have become your Father.”

When Moses had proclaimed every command of the law to all the people, he took the blood of calves, together with water, scarlet wool and branches of hyssop, and sprinkled the scroll and all the people.

This is what the ancients were commended for.

even though God had said to him, “It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.”

See to it that you do not refuse him who speaks. If they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, how much less will we, if we turn away from him who warns us from heaven?
