For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods.

then the Lord your God will restore your fortunes and have compassion on you and gather you again from all the nations where he scattered you.

Then one of them said, “I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife will have a son.” Now Sarah was listening at the entrance to the tent, which was behind him.

But the angel said to him: “Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to call him John.

“God is mighty, but despises no one; he is mighty, and firm in his purpose.

But my covenant I will establish with Isaac, whom Sarah will bear to you by this time next year.”

Abraham reasoned that God could even raise the dead, and so in a manner of speaking he did receive Isaac back from death.

Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.”

Sarah was afraid, so she lied and said, “I did not laugh.” But he said, “Yes, you did laugh.”

Now the Lord was gracious to Sarah as he had said, and the Lord did for Sarah what he had promised.

Sarah became pregnant and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the very time God had promised him.

When I came, why was there no one? When I called, why was there no one to answer? Was my arm too short to deliver you? Do I lack the strength to rescue you? By a mere rebuke I dry up the sea, I turn rivers into a desert; their fish rot for lack of water and die of thirst.

When he came near the den, he called to Daniel in an anguished voice, “Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to rescue you from the lions?”

I will bless her and will surely give you a son by her. I will bless her so that she will be the mother of nations; kings of peoples will come from her.”

The angel of the Lord appeared to her and said, “You are barren and childless, but you are going to become pregnant and give birth to a son.
