That is why some Jews seized me in the temple courts and tried to kill me.

I was ceremonially clean when they found me in the temple courts doing this. There was no crowd with me, nor was I involved in any disturbance.

But the Jewish leaders incited the God-fearing women of high standing and the leading men of the city. They stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them from their region.

While Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews of Corinth made a united attack on Paul and brought him to the place of judgment.

But when the Jews in Thessalonica learned that Paul was preaching the word of God at Berea, some of them went there too, agitating the crowds and stirring them up.

Then some Jews came from Antioch and Iconium and won the crowd over. They stoned Paul and dragged him outside the city, thinking he was dead.

There was a plot afoot among both Gentiles and Jews, together with their leaders, to mistreat them and stone them.

But the Jews who refused to believe stirred up the other Gentiles and poisoned their minds against the brothers.

So they stirred up the people and the elders and the teachers of the law. They seized Stephen and brought him before the Sanhedrin.

They arrested the apostles and put them in the public jail.

They seized Peter and John and, because it was evening, they put them in jail until the next day.

“But before all this, they will seize you and persecute you. They will hand you over to synagogues and put you in prison, and you will be brought before kings and governors, and all on account of my name.
