Those who escorted Paul brought him to Athens and then left with instructions for Silas and Timothy to join him as soon as possible.

The church sent them on their way, and as they traveled through Phoenicia and Samaria, they told how the Gentiles had been converted. This news made all the believers very glad.

The believers immediately sent Paul to the coast, but Silas and Timothy stayed at Berea.

While Paul was waiting for them in Athens, he was greatly distressed to see that the city was full of idols.

When Silas and Timothy came from Macedonia, Paul devoted himself exclusively to preaching, testifying to the Jews that Jesus was the Messiah.

So when we could stand it no longer, we thought it best to be left by ourselves in Athens.

As soon as I send Artemas or Tychicus to you, do your best to come to me at Nicopolis, because I have decided to winter there.
