So Samuel told him everything, hiding nothing from him. Then Eli said, “He is the Lord; let him do what is good in his eyes.”

Praise be to the Lord your God, who has delighted in you and placed you on the throne of Israel. Because of the Lord’s eternal love for Israel, he has made you king to maintain justice and righteousness.”

He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me.

No longer will they call you Deserted, or name your land Desolate. But you will be called Hephzibah, and your land Beulah; for the Lord will take delight in you, and your land will be married.

If the Lord is pleased with us, he will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us.

Be strong, and let us fight bravely for our people and the cities of our God. The Lord will do what is good in his sight.”

All my grandfather’s descendants deserved nothing but death from my lord the king, but you gave your servant a place among those who eat at your table. So what right do I have to make any more appeals to the king?”
