“And now your servant says, ‘May the word of my lord the king secure my inheritance, for my lord the king is like an angel of God in discerning good and evil. May the Lord your God be with you.’ ”

And he has slandered your servant to my lord the king. My lord the king is like an angel of God; so do whatever you wish.

Those who flatter their neighbors are spreading nets for their feet.

The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but people are tested by their praise.

Is there any wickedness on my lips? Can my mouth not discern malice?

When all Israel heard the verdict the king had given, they held the king in awe, because they saw that he had wisdom from God to administer justice.

Then the king said to the woman, “Don’t keep from me the answer to what I am going to ask you.” “Let my lord the king speak,” the woman said.

Just as we fully obeyed Moses, so we will obey you. Only may the Lord your God be with you as he was with Moses.

All my grandfather’s descendants deserved nothing but death from my lord the king, but you gave your servant a place among those who eat at your table. So what right do I have to make any more appeals to the king?”
