The king stood up, tore his clothes and lay down on the ground; and all his attendants stood by with their clothes torn.

For three days he was blind, and did not eat or drink anything.

Who knows? God may yet relent and with compassion turn from his fierce anger so that we will not perish.”

So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in prayer and petition, in fasting, and in sackcloth and ashes.
