All King Solomon’s goblets were gold, and all the household articles in the Palace of the Forest of Lebanon were pure gold. Nothing was made of silver, because silver was considered of little value in Solomon’s day.

Wine was served in goblets of gold, each one different from the other, and the royal wine was abundant, in keeping with the king’s liberality.

Stop trusting in mere humans, who have but a breath in their nostrils. Why hold them in esteem?

Again you will plant vineyards on the hills of Samaria; the farmers will plant them and enjoy their fruit.

Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.
