Saul became still more afraid of him, and he remained his enemy the rest of his days.

When Saul saw how successful he was, he was afraid of him.

Samuel said to Saul, “Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?” “I am in great distress,” Saul said. “The Philistines are fighting against me, and God has departed from me. He no longer answers me, either by prophets or by dreams. So I have called on you to tell me what to do.”

Samuel did what the Lord said. When he arrived at Bethlehem, the elders of the town trembled when they met him. They asked, “Do you come in peace?”

But if my father intends to harm you, may the Lord deal with Jonathan, be it ever so severely, if I do not let you know and send you away in peace. May the Lord be with you as he has been with my father.

And he became more and more powerful, because the Lord God Almighty was with him.

The Lord was with Jehoshaphat because he followed the ways of his father David before him. He did not consult the Baals
