For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit.

so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.

Otherwise Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world. But he has appeared once for all at the culmination of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself.

God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

For this is the reason the gospel was preached even to those who are now dead, so that they might be judged according to human standards in regard to the body, but live according to God in regard to the spirit.

who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

For to be sure, he was crucified in weakness, yet he lives by God’s power. Likewise, we are weak in him, yet by God’s power we will live with him in our dealing with you.

through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.

and who through the Spirit of holiness was appointed the Son of God in power by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord.

You have condemned and murdered the innocent one, who was not opposing you.

You disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released to you.

Not that we lord it over your faith, but we work with you for your joy, because it is by faith you stand firm.

And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.

“Then he said: ‘The God of our ancestors has chosen you to know his will and to see the Righteous One and to hear words from his mouth.

While Pilate was sitting on the judge’s seat, his wife sent him this message: “Don’t have anything to do with that innocent man, for I have suffered a great deal today in a dream because of him.”

In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.

How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!

And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

After being made alive, he went and made proclamation to the imprisoned spirits—

one young bull, one ram and one male lamb a year old for a burnt offering;
