Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.

Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.

Brothers and sisters, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against a brother or sister or judges them speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it.

For, “Whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech.

They are surprised that you do not join them in their reckless, wild living, and they heap abuse on you.

As a result, they do not live the rest of their earthly lives for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God.

In the same way, the women are to be worthy of respect, not malicious talkers but temperate and trustworthy in everything.

In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.

Or do you think Scripture says without reason that he jealously longs for the spirit he has caused to dwell in us?

But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth.

For the appeal we make does not spring from error or impure motives, nor are we trying to trick you.

Therefore let us keep the Festival, not with the old bread leavened with malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you:

In that day people will throw away to the moles and bats their idols of silver and idols of gold, which they made to worship.

For I envied the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
