The woman whose son was alive was deeply moved out of love for her son and said to the king, “Please, my lord, give her the living baby! Don’t kill him!” But the other said, “Neither I nor you shall have him. Cut him in two!”

Deeply moved at the sight of his brother, Joseph hurried out and looked for a place to weep. He went into his private room and wept there.

He then gave an order: “Cut the living child in two and give half to one and half to the other.”

Then the king gave his ruling: “Give the living baby to the first woman. Do not kill him; she is his mother.”

God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.

Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion,

without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good,

If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?
