Moreover, Solomon has taken his seat on the royal throne.

Go in to King David and say to him, ‘My lord the king, did you not swear to me your servant: “Surely Solomon your son shall be king after me, and he will sit on my throne”? Why then has Adonijah become king?’

And now, as surely as the Lord lives—he who has established me securely on the throne of my father David and has founded a dynasty for me as he promised—Adonijah shall be put to death today!”

So Solomon sat on the throne of the Lord as king in place of his father David. He prospered and all Israel obeyed him.

The Lord swore an oath to David, a sure oath he will not revoke: “One of your own descendants I will place on your throne.

I will overturn royal thrones and shatter the power of the foreign kingdoms. I will overthrow chariots and their drivers; horses and their riders will fall, each by the sword of his brother.
