God saw everything he had made. And it was very good. There was evening, and there was morning. It was day six.

All of them have turned away. They have all become evil. No one does anything good, no one at all.

Foolish people say in their hearts, “There is no God.” They do all kinds of horrible and evil things. No one does anything good.

They have quickly turned away from what I commanded them. They have made themselves a metal statue of a god in the shape of a calf. They have bowed down and sacrificed to it. And they have said, ‘Israel, here is your god who brought you up out of Egypt.’

It is true that there isn’t anyone on earth who does only what is right and never sins.

Here’s the only other thing I found. God created human beings as honest. But they’ve made many evil plans.”

All of us are like sheep. We have wandered away from God. All of us have turned to our own way. And the Lord has placed on his servant the sins of all of us.

They don’t know how to live at peace with others. What they do isn’t fair. They lead twisted lives. No one who lives like that will enjoy peace and rest.

All of us have become like someone who is “unclean.” All the good things we do are like dirty rags to you. All of us are like leaves that have dried up. Our sins sweep us away like the wind.

“My people have sinned twice. They have deserted me, even though I am the spring of water that gives life. And they have dug their own wells. But those wells are broken. They can’t hold any water.

Throw that worthless slave outside. There in the darkness, people will weep and grind their teeth.’

No one understands. No one trusts in God.

“Their throats are like open graves. With their tongues they tell lies.” (Psalm 5:9) “The words from their lips are like the poison of a snake.” (Psalm 140:3)

At one time we all lived among them. Our desires were controlled by sin. We tried to satisfy what they wanted us to do. We followed our desires and thoughts. God was angry with us like he was with everyone else. That’s because of the kind of people we all were.

Before that, he was useless to you. But now he has become useful to you and to me.

“You were like sheep wandering away.” (Isaiah 53:6) But now you have returned to the Shepherd. He is the one who watches over your souls.
