Psalm 89:2

I will tell everyone that your love stands firm forever. I will tell them that you are always faithful, even in heaven itself.

I said, “Lord, you are the God of heaven. You are a great and wonderful God. You keep the covenant you made with those who love you and obey your commandments. You show them your love.

They refused to listen to you. They forgot the miracles you had done among them. So they became stubborn. When they refused to obey you, they appointed a leader for themselves. They wanted to go back to being slaves in Egypt. But you are a God who forgives. You are gracious. You are tender and kind. You are slow to get angry. You are full of love. So you didn’t desert them.

But you loved them very much. So you didn’t put an end to them. You didn’t desert them. That’s because you are a gracious God. You are tender and kind.

But the Lord’s love for those who have respect for him lasts for ever and ever. Their children’s children will know that he always does what is right.

Lord, your word lasts forever. It stands firm in the heavens.

He is the Maker of heaven and earth and the ocean. He made everything in them. He remains faithful forever.

Lord, your love is as high as the heavens. Your faithful love reaches up to the skies.

Lord, don’t hold back your mercy from me. May your love and faithfulness always keep me safe.

A deer longs for streams of water. God, I long for you in the same way.

It will last forever like the moon, that faithful witness in the sky.”

Lord, the heavens praise you for your wonderful deeds. When your holy angels gather together, they praise you for how faithful you are.

God isn’t a mere human. He can’t lie. He isn’t a human being. He doesn’t change his mind. He speaks, and then he acts. He makes a promise, and then he keeps it.

Heaven and earth will pass away. But my words will never pass away.

He shows his mercy to those who have respect for him, from parent to child down through the years.

When God made his promise, he gave his word. He did this so we would have good reason not to give up. Instead, we have run to take hold of the hope set before us. This hope is set before us in God’s promise. So God made his promise and gave his word. These two things can’t change. He couldn’t lie about them.
